Relegen’s expertise and product portfolio is in demand right across the spectrum of industrial activity.
From mining & utilities, manufacturing, distribution, wholesaling & retailing and environmental services to the government sector – in particular Defence – enterprises large and small have placed their faith in our ability to bring the job in on budget and on time, no matter how difficult or challenging it is.
No industrial environment is more demanding than the Defence sector where Relegen has made its name over the past ten years. As one of the largest service providers to the Australian Defence Force (ADF)
the company has a prized place on programs and panels that underpin Australia’s military preparedness.
Relegen is:
For the ADF we specialise in providing professional services staff, asset management and ship repair services.
Our personnel have defence force backgrounds and security clearances. And in addition to the full-time team we have access to a first-class contractor base. A number of staff and contractors are also active Reservists – undergoing training to keep their military skills current.
Whatever the task or challenge, we provide experts with the most appropriate skill set to complete the project to your complete satisfaction.
Professional Services Provider: Relegen staff have worked directly with the ADF since 2000 across a number of navy, army and tri-service projects. They have also been contracted to all of Australia’s largest defence contractors including BAE, GHD, Tenix, Rolls-Royce Australia Services, Ross Logic and others.
Risk Management: For the Royal Australian Navy, Relegen has reviewed the profile of high-risk maintenance items across a class of warships. The objective: to determine the risk associated with each asset component, and the maintenance each component requires to function at an optimal level.
Policy and Procedure Development: After developing technical directives for asset barcoding and management of high-risk maintenance items across a class of RAN ships, Relegen is completing an Australian Book of Reference for the management of transactional data on the operational profiles of naval machinery assets.
System Development: Relegen has completed a number of bespoke system design and development projects for the ADF. These include a transactional data management system for warships, an auditing tool for inventory management, a system for managing assets deployed operationally, and a working prototype of a system for personnel management in operational zones.
Physical Auditing: Relegen system specialists have conducted onboard audits of configuration and high-risk maintenance items for the RAN. Understanding exactly what assets are fitted – and passing this information to the navy’s computerised maintenance management system to trigger on-time maintenance action – is the key to maximising productivity and minimising risk.
Tagging: For a decade Relegen has supplied its unique system of assetDNA tags and complementary numbers to the RAN, who are leaders in tagging engineering assets at the component level. This system enables the tracking and identification of an item – as well as details of manufacture, ownership and maintenance history – to be available in situ.
Data Alignment: As one of its core capabilities, Relegen has undertaken a number of data alignment tasks for the RAN – the latest using subject matter and system experts to identify disparities in data held on items across three different information platforms.
Training: Relegen technical training staff have developed and delivered, both at sea and ashore, multiple training courses for the skill development of RAN engineering sailors. These courses are crucial for the progression of training, irrespective of a ship’s operational situation.
Ship Repair: Both directly with the ADF and indirectly through major service providers, Relegen’s engineers and technical specialists have undertaken a range of ship refit and repair tasks. These include project management of refits, heavy engineering repairs, and test and evaluation of system performance and capability.
Government Working with Australia’s defence establishment has made Relegen familiar with the specific requirements
of government procurement policies and stakeholder support.
We understand the different requirements and guidelines and are represented on a number of government purchasing panels, including the New South Wales Department of Planning and the CSIRO, to name two.
Asset Management: Willoughby Council is a medium-sized local government area in metropolitan Sydney. Relegen has implemented the baseLINE asset management system to assist the council in managing leases against facilities.
System Development: Relegen developed an auditing tool for a federal government department to use in managing a number of physical assets throughout Australia.
Professional Services: Relegen has been engaged by the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service to provide technical assistance, developing and writing policy, for their new Safety Management System based on the IMO's International Safety Management System.
Mining and UtilitiesRelegen is a key player in Australia’s thriving mining industry, offering innovative, low-cost solutions
for safety improvement and certification of equipment.
In 2008, we were listed at number three in the Top Ten Supplier Recognition Program for mining giant
Rio Tinto, with a score of 94 per cent – ahead of some much bigger suppliers. The rating reflected our involvement with Rio Tinto’s iron ore operations.
Professional Services Provider: Relegen provides contract engineering and technical staff to major mining companies in Australia to address project-specific skills shortages.
Policy and Procedure Development: Relegen has assisted with the development of operational documentation for safe, auditable and repeatable procedures for two Rio Tinto power plants.
Asset Management: Relegen has installed baseLINE on a number of projects for two of the world’s biggest mining companies. These projects reflect the superior capabilities and versatility of the baseLINE management system: for issuance of assets (such as vehicles and protective equipment), asset location tracking, asset maintenance and servicing, issuing maintenance reports (repair, replacement, servicing, certification), vehicle safety checks, speed monitoring, management of an accurate register for certified items, and much more.
ManufacturingFor high-volume industries where reliability, performance standards and safety are vital, Relegen offers
a technically superior product – baseLINE Framework – as well as an understanding of the principles and
practices behind effective asset management.
The baseLINE STORM system (Streamlined Tool for Online Risk Management), developed specifically for Unilever, has been acknowledged externally as best practice for the management of non-conformance in a manufacturing environment.
Risk Management: Relegen developed and implemented a web-based system for Unilever Australasia to manage assessments and non-conformance issues related to quality, safety and environmental processes. This tool allows all risk management issues to be centrally logged, actioned, reviewed and closed.
Asset Management: Divex, world leaders in the supply and manufacture of diving and subsea equipment, chose Relegen’s baseLINE system to manage quality, certification and safety documentation for their product range. The system also entails a web service that enables Divex clients to interact with asset data from external locations.
Distribution, Wholesaling & RetailTo generate loyalty and commitment from buyers, sellers today need to continually find ways of adding value to the customer relationship.
baseLINE assists sellers with everything from workflow to inventory management; information dissemination (such as material safety data sheets and usage manuals); and certification through to after sales service. The baseLINE web interface makes collaboration on information easy, throughout the supply chain, by integrating key business processes from end user to original supplier.
Asset Management: PAC FIRE AUSTRALIA™, supplier of quality personal protective products to the emergency services industry, has installed baseLINE to manage vital after sales product details – for warranties, repairs, maintenance, cleaning and so on. Using RFIDs with baseLINE, PAC FIRE clients such as fire brigades can track and record usage of personal protective equipment (PPE). This information can be accessed and actioned by both PAC FIRE and their clients via the web interface.
Environmental ServicesThe rising importance of environmental issues is changing the way everyone does business in the
21st century. As an engineering company geared to the need for peak asset management, Relegen fully appreciates the need to operate within much stricter environmental constraints.
For example, preservation, re-use, repair and recycling of assets and components is far preferable to disposal and replacement – in terms of both environmental concern and cost control.
Asset Management: Industrial Decontamination Services, who specialise in the decontamination and laundering of protective equipment for heavy industry, selected baseLINE to manage their sanitisation, cleaning and recycling operations. By marrying ruggedised hardware, RFIDs and touch screens to the baseLINE system IDS are able to adhere to a strict workflow, ensuring the highest safety standards are met. They can also generate a quick turnaround for clients, manage quarantined items safely, record costs accurately against individual clients, and monitor the performance of their laundries from a central location.
